Plain-language summary
This bill would make it a crime in Kentucky to store a firearm in a way that recklessly allows a child to access it. The offense would generally be a Class B misdemeanor, but would rise to a Class A misdemeanor if a child is injured or killed as a result. A person could use as a legal defense the fact that the child gained access by breaking in or entering without permission. Who it may affect: gun owners who live with or regularly have children present in their homes.
