This bill sets rules about how much patients can be charged out-of-pocket when they buy prescription drugs through their insurance. It would prevent insurers from requiring patients to pay more than the drug's cash price and would require that payments made for covered prescriptions count toward a patient's deductible or other cost-sharing limits. It would apply to most health plans, including coverage for state employees and employees of public universities, starting January 1, 2027. Who it may affect: Kentuckians with health insurance who take prescription drugs, state government employees, and employees of public colleges and universities.
