AN ACT relating to misclassification of employees.

This bill would create new legal protections for workers who are incorrectly labeled as independent contractors by their employers instead of being classified as employees. It adds definitions to Kentucky law to clarify what an independent contractor is and what it means to be misclassified, and it provides a way for affected workers to seek a remedy. It also removes an existing law related to marketplace contractors. Who it may affect: workers currently classified as independent contractors, employers who use contract labor, and gig or app-based workers.
