This bill would require Kentucky hospitals to publicly post their prices for services online and give patients written price information before receiving care, except in emergencies. It also directs a state agency to create standard formats for how that pricing information is displayed and to monitor hospitals for compliance, with penalties for those that do not follow the rules. Who it may affect: patients seeking hospital or other health care services, and hospitals and health care providers operating in Kentucky.
