Plain-language summary
This bill proposes an amendment to the Kentucky Constitution that would require anyone running for or being appointed to a wide range of state and local elected offices to be a United States citizen, and not a citizen or national of any foreign country, both at the time of their election or appointment and for the 18 years leading up to it. It would apply to offices ranging from Governor and state legislature members to local county offices and judges. Because it is a constitutional amendment, it would be placed on the ballot for Kentucky voters to approve or reject. Who it may affect: people seeking elected office in Kentucky at the state, judicial, legislative, and local levels.
