Plain-language summary
This bill strengthens rules requiring health insurance plans to cover mental health conditions on equal footing with physical health conditions, a concept known as mental health parity. It adds new enforcement tools, including a complaint hotline, independent audits, Attorney General oversight, and the ability for individuals to sue insurers who violate these rules. It also extends these requirements to Kentucky's Medicaid program. Who it may affect: Kentuckians with mental health conditions, health professionals who treat them, and health insurance policyholders.
