AN ACT relating to the donation of food.

This bill creates a new category called "charitable food donor" for certain nonprofit, religious, or home-based food producers that donate food to homeless shelters or to people displaced by a declared natural disaster. These donors would be exempt from state food licensing requirements, plumbing code rules, and civil or criminal liability tied to that food production and donation. The goal is to make it easier for organizations and individuals to donate food without fear of regulatory penalties or lawsuits. Who it may affect: nonprofit and religious organizations, home-based food producers, homeless shelter residents, and Kentuckians displaced by natural disasters.
