AN ACT relating to education and declaring an emergency.

This bill gives Kentucky school districts more flexibility to recover instruction time lost to school closures, such as from severe weather or emergencies. Districts can make up missed days by adding extra time to existing school days, and they may apply to waive up to five required attendance days if they cannot meet the 1,062-hour instruction requirement by June 4, 2025. Districts that want to adjust their calendars must submit a plan to the state Department of Education for approval.
