This bill would allow the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to partner with private businesses or organizations to help fund the upkeep of welcome centers and rest areas along Kentucky's interstates and highways. Any money contributed by a sponsor would have to go directly toward maintaining those facilities. The cabinet would be required to create rules establishing how these sponsorship agreements would work. Who it may affect: travelers who use Kentucky's rest areas and welcome centers, private businesses interested in sponsoring public facilities, and the Transportation Cabinet.
