This bill cancels two existing state administrative regulations related to how certain medications for substance use disorder can be prescribed and dispensed. It also prohibits several state licensing boards, including those overseeing doctors, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists, from creating future rules that limit how those medications are prescribed, dispensed, or administered. The bill takes effect immediately if passed, which is the meaning of the emergency declaration. Who it may affect: Kentuckians being treated for substance use disorder, as well as healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists who prescribe or dispense these medications.
