AN ACT relating to coal mining.

This bill changes the staffing rules for coal mines in Kentucky. Currently, every active coal mine shift must have two emergency medical or mine emergency technicians present; this bill would reduce that requirement to one technician for shifts with 10 or fewer workers. It applies to underground and surface coal mining operations subject to state oversight. Who it may affect: coal miners and coal mine operators, particularly at smaller mining operations with 10 or fewer workers per shift.
