This bill would have required Kentucky Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program to cover rapid whole genome sequencing, a detailed genetic test that can help diagnose serious or rare conditions. It set out the conditions under which that coverage would apply and directed the relevant state agencies to create rules and seek any needed federal approval to carry it out. Who it may affect: low-income children and families enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP who need advanced genetic testing.
