This bill would change how the Kentucky Employees Retirement System calculates the membership start date for certain state employees who were hired through educational contracts. Under the proposed change, those employees could use the earliest date of their educational contract as their official membership date, which could affect how their retirement benefits are calculated. Currently, date restrictions limit when that membership period can begin. Who it may affect: state employees who were hired as conditional employees through educational contracts and are members of the Kentucky Employees Retirement System.
