AN ACT relating to involuntary commitment.

This bill expands the list of serious offenses that can qualify a person for involuntary commitment by adding first-degree sexual abuse as a "qualifying offense." This means someone convicted of that crime could be subject to involuntary commitment proceedings under Kentucky law. The change also includes minor technical corrections to existing language. Who it may affect: individuals convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, as well as survivors of sexual abuse and the communities they live in.
