AN ACT relating to crimes and punishments.

This bill, called the Primary Caretaker Consideration Act, requires Kentucky courts to take into account whether a convicted person is the main caregiver of a dependent child before sentencing, and to consider offering an alternative to incarceration in those cases. It does not apply when the conviction involves a violent offense, when the victim is a child, or when a law prohibits alternative sentences.
