This bill would protect access to assisted reproductive technology, such as IVF, in Kentucky. It would also establish in state law that a fertilized egg or embryo existing outside the human body does not have the same legal standing as a person or child under Kentucky law. This legal clarification is intended to ensure that fertility treatments can continue without legal uncertainty. Who it may affect: Kentuckians seeking fertility treatments such as IVF, as well as the medical providers who offer assisted reproductive services.
