Plain-language summary
This bill would legally protect access to assisted reproductive technology, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), in Kentucky. It would also establish in state law that a fertilized egg or embryo existing outside the human body is not considered a person, unborn child, or minor child under Kentucky law. This distinction is intended to clarify the legal status of embryos created during fertility treatments. Who it may affect: Kentuckians seeking fertility treatments such as IVF, fertility clinics and their staff, and health care providers involved in reproductive medicine.
