AN ACT relating to service credit for the Teachers' Retirement System and declaring an emergency.

This bill would allow members of the Kentucky Teachers' Retirement System to recover up to 10 days of unpaid leave taken for religious holidays and have those days count toward their retirement service credit. Currently, unpaid days may not be included in the calculation of service credit, which could reduce a teacher's retirement benefits. The emergency designation means it would take effect immediately upon becoming law. Who it may affect: Kentucky public school teachers and other Teachers' Retirement System members who have taken or may take unpaid days off to observe religious holidays.
