AN ACT relating to hate crimes.

This bill would update Kentucky's hate crime law to add political creed as a protected category, meaning that if someone commits a crime targeting a person because of their political beliefs, that could be considered a hate crime. Hate crime status can affect sentencing and other parts of the criminal justice process. Conforming changes are also made to related statutes on law enforcement and sex offender reporting.
