This bill would create a program to help repay medical school loans for eligible students who commit to practicing medicine in Kentucky for at least 10 years. It is designed to encourage doctors to stay and work in the state. Students who receive the benefit but do not fulfill the service requirement would have to repay the funds, and could risk losing their medical license. Who it may affect: medical students and physicians, as well as Kentuckians in communities that may benefit from increased access to doctors.
