2026 Regular Session

AN ACT relating to the postsecondary education working group and declaring an emergency.

Amend KRS 164.092 to change the membership of the postsecondary education working group of the Council on Postsecondary Education; require the working group to convene on a calendar year basis rather than a fiscal year basis; EMERGENCY.

In effect since April 14, 2026

This act carries an emergency clause, so it took effect as soon as it became law instead of waiting the usual 90 days after the session adjourned (Ky. Constitution § 55).

This bill makes changes to a state working group that advises on higher education policy in Kentucky. It adjusts who sits on that working group and shifts its meeting schedule from the state fiscal year to the calendar year. The emergency designation means these changes took effect immediately upon signing rather than waiting for the standard effective date. Who it may affect: people involved in higher education policy and administration, including members of the Council on Postsecondary Education and Kentucky colleges and universities.
